We have modified our meal program in response to COVID19 - all meals are packaged to go at the door from 430pm-530pm
What is the community meal program?
The community meal program was conceived in 2009 to provide a weekly meal for people in need in our community. All meals are provided by various service clubs, corporate groups and faith groups in the Newmarket/ Aurora area. We typically serve between 60 and 90 guests.
When and where does the community meal take place?
Today at IFTC, the community meal operates 52 weeks a year, every Friday from 4:30 PM to 6:00 PM. Meals are served in the Community Hall all and offer a great chance for our guests to socialize. On a number of occasions our groups have included musicians who have entertained guests during the meal. In addition take-home meals are given for those who may be unable to come out for the meal.
Who is responsible for preparing the food for the community meal?
Each week a different group plans the menu, purchases the food, does the food preparation in the kitchen at IFTC and serves our guests.

An invitation to participate
Each Friday we served a nutritious dinner form 4:30 to 6:00 which is open to everyone in our community. These meals are provided by corporate groups, faith groups, service clubs and groups of family or friends. These Providing Groups shop, prepare and serve the meal and typically spend from $325.00 upwards and plan for 100 to 110 plates of food. A group of Inn From the Cold volunteers manage beverages and set up and clean up tasks.
Our 2019 schedule is full but we welcome new groups for our 2020 schedule. And as well donations to this program are always welcome. Tax receipts are available to those purchasing the food.
Our thanks to John Howard Society of York Region who annually have provided funds to support the community meal program.
